Twitter is going to start a limited test of notifications on it, whenever you have new tweets. This features works in the same way as the new tweet notifications on the search page for a term. Moreover, when you click on the notification, the newest tweets slide out in the same fashion as the search page. Therefore, if one of the folks you follow has tweeted after loading the home page, you will receive a little notice that says, “1 New Tweet”, when you click on it, it will display the new content.

Meanwhile, there is no difficulty to implement these features, as it was already built for the search feature. Twitter thinks that it has improved the tweet consumption experience and hopes to roll it out to everyone as soon as possible.
