Translate texts and images using Google Goggles
Google is ready to introduce a new feature that is translating text using Google Goggles. This feature is under testing process of Google. This visual search mobile App will be available for Android phones. The main advantage of this feature, you can easily translate the text you want to translate without any need of visiting Google Translate and typing the texts. Moreover, you can use the Phone’s Camera to photograph the text, send the Photo to Google’s servers and get the translation. As performing Optical Character Recognition is more difficult on any photo especially if you don’t know the language of the text, this feature is not yet available for you.
At present this features is only available for German to English translations. Nevertheless, it holds a lot of futuristic concepts to make your mobile able to translate Signs, Posters and other Foreign texts instantly to your language. Even more, Google is hoping to build a version of Google Goggles that can translate between all of the 52 languages currently supported by Google Translate.
In addition, Google tests an API for Google Docs in order to perform OCR on a high-resolution image. Unfortunately, it is not quite impressive. Therefore, the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) service is expected to be available in Google Labs. However, translating text and images have become handy for your mobile life.
