HostICan Really Really Sucks!
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Hi Friends. One of the nightmares of the Internet Blogging Host is the HostICan. I have hosted few of my sites using this HostICan. To speak the truth, I am really really tired. This is the nightmare which I face day by day. Every time I try to open up the site, my sucking nightmare, opens up his large mouth, and disracts me.
This is one which is offered by the HostICan, is HostICan is the preferred host for any WordPress user. Their WordPress specific setup features one-click WordPress installation (free!). The hosting package includes: 200 GB of Disk Space, 2000 GB of monthly Transfer, 99.99% Uptime Guarantee, Fantastico, and unlimited sub domains and MySQL databases. You’re getting the best offer on the market all for just $6.95/mo.
The one thing that I would like to say, regarding this offer made by the HostICan is that, he says, that he gives 99.99% of the gurantee, but the true fact is that, he cheats his customers, 99.99% and the rest 0.01% are survivng with this host, in a mere fluke.
The next thing is that, their own server starts up with an error. They itself have a JavaScript Error. More than that, they say that they provide online help facility, but the statement reads, If our live chat button is not displayed it means that our chat department is currently closed. Live chat is generally open seven days per week between 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM. If you need to reach us outside these hours, we are open 24×7x365 via phone and E-mail. Click here for more detailed contact information. But this department, is closed for 24×7x365.

HostIcan is a living hell. And the their consumers are really sufferinf by this nightmare. Beware of Dogs HostIcan. Its really really sucks.

MUCH PROPS TO YOU FOR POSTING THIS BLOG!
HOSTICANT CUSTOMER SERVICE LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED IN FIXING THIS PROBLEM, AND HAS LOST MY BUSINESS AS WELL
IN FACT I WOULD LIKE TO POST THIS EMAIL I GOT FROM ANOTHER HOSTING COMPANY, JUST TO SHOW THE RIDICULOUSNESS OF THE HOSTICANT POLICY REGARDING CPU LIMITS
—————————————————
I cannot forsee ANY issue what so ever with this website being hosted on our servers. You should be able to purchase whichever package accomodates your space and bandwidth requirements - and will almost 100% certainty you can utilize all of your space and bandwidth without any issues at all. Additionally, even if we see an issue, we wouldnt suspend
your account or temporarily suspend service (unless there was a very serious issue). This is the sort of value adds we bring to the table with our clustered offering. We do not offer massive package allocations then limit usage based on CPU, etc - as such, customers are almost always able to utilize what they have purchased without fear of suspension, etc…
If you have any doubt at all (and honestly, I do not) - but, we do offer a full 30 day, no questions asked, money back guarantee - so, feel free to take us up on that. Move your site over and let it run for 30 days. I can 100% assure you that you will not be suspended - and if there is something wrong with your code that we cant see (until it is on our servers) - we will tell you what it is and how to fix it. And because we have the capacity to handle it, even if there is a CPU issue, we can withstand it until you fix your coding.

I’ve been with HostISuck for about 7 months. Everything was fine in the beginning - they were cheap, moving to them was easy - I loved them. Well, the honeymoon is DEFINITELY over. Shortly (conveniently?) after my “30-day money back guarantee” period was up, my site kept getting shut down for “CPU/Memory over usage”. My site has been going for over 5 years. NEVER. NOT ONCE - in all the host providers I’ve been with did that ever happen. Even when my site got slashdotted a few years ago. But I’m with them for a month and BOOM! All of a sudden they say “i’ve outgrown their server” They say I should upgrade to their dedicated server plan etc (5x a month more than what I’m paying now)… WHA??? Sounds like bait and switch to me.
I’ve disabled almost all plugins - I installed wp-cache like they asked - and yet it still goes down.
I asked them to tell me the hardware configuration of the server I am - the first response I got was this:
single Dual-Core Xeon server
And then the response was “oh… that guy made a mistake, really it’s:
Quad Core Dual Xeon server
Really? How/why the mistake? Which is REALLY the truth? Ask to be able to verify what the real answer is - and they can’t. (won’t?)
I feel like such an idiot for thinking they were this great host. I recommended people go to them - have some clients on them… Ugh!! They are AWFUL!!!
January 19th, 2008 02:17
I quit with them yesterday. Such a load of rubbish. Overselling, and ranting that everyone’s at fault but themselves. Found this, too:

@ Jeniffer
HosticanT its really a waste of time , Beware of this Crappy Hosting , many error messages popup while posting a content & managing our post, I really fed up with HostIcan hosting ,
For me also they adviced to install Wp-cache , I installed still they are doing the same
Friends dont ever & ever try to Host with this Hostican they guarantee lots of features & slashed price its a trap
January 19th, 2008 03:00
@ Ronald
You done a great move , Keep away from this Hostican Hosting , It’s really a S$$t hosting
January 20th, 2008 19:46
This is preposterous. HostICan offers excellent service and, in fact, gives the customer higher levels of resources than most any host I know about. It’s too bad that some site abusers make up stories to explain why they got booted. One of the abusers was investigated by HostICan, after claiming they had a light forum. In fact, they were running a beta version of vBulletin 3.7 (not even the latest), and 15 plugins including a Shoutbox, the latter of which is strictly prohibited by shared hosts. Give me a break!
The real issue here is that people are either trying to hide their own resource abuse with misinformation, or are ignorant of what they’ve done.
Listen, there’s only so much you can or should expect when you pay $6-10 a month for shared hosting. If your site becomes too popular, you upgrade to a higher-end plan, VPS or dedicated.
Honeymoon over? Never existed. HostICan has always had one policy about resource abuse. If you got caught, sorry folks. But stop spreading online drivel, please.
Peace,
Gene

Interesting photos on your Blog, Keep up the good work
January 22nd, 2008 18:51
gene, the quality of service I received during my first 30 days of service was far greater than what I have been experiencing since January
of course, I can’t get my money back anymore. 30 days long gone, baby
that’s called bait-and-switch, and its a filthy business tactic. they told me to upgrade or leave.
upgrading meant more money for them
leaving meant them getting paid for 1.4 years of hosting ($150) that I could not use.
now WHO’s abusing who?
January 23rd, 2008 01:17
I have to disagree with Gene Steinberg. I too have had these CPU overload problems. I’ve emailed support a few times and their responses are definitely not supportive. I’ve posted on the forums and had no response from them either.
They just keep saying - to other people - that’s it’s a problem with their site, not the web servers and that with 25% CPU resources it’s more than other hosts offer.
I have 2 blogs on my plan with minimal traffic, updated Wordpress software and plugins and really cannot see why my sites have been suspsended. If I can stick out my year I’ll probably be moving.
By the way, I started hosting with them in November. December was a higher traffic month for me with no problems and no changes on my sites apart from blog content, and now as from a week ago my site has been suspended more than once. With all these messages you would think they stop trying to defend themselves and actually do something!

Hahahahaha! looks like they deleted that massive 371-post thread about this. yeah, they’re definitely trying to cover this up.
absolutely pathetic.
January 26th, 2008 15:03
@Intermission:
LOL @ the coverup. I’ve got a copy of that thread here for anyone who wants to read it:
http://gayteenforum.org/stuff/HostICan‘t-deleted-threads/
It actually had 380 posts.
I myself was fortunately still in my 30-day trial period - I managed to get all of my money back. I have now moved to DreamHost, where I’ve actually paid less and I have had no resource errors whatsoever, even though I have turned all of the supposedly resource-intensive stuff on my forum back on.
If you’re still looking for a better host, I recommend this one:
http://www.dreamhost.com
You can use this PROMO code for a $50 discount: HOSTICANREFUGEE
You’ll pay only $69.40 for the first year, and you have 97 days to change your mind.
January 26th, 2008 18:43
@ Intermission
On the Hostican support Forum they also deleted the CPU Memory overload Thread from this iself we can understand about their service, when they provide good service why they wanna delete this thread hmmm.
@ Jen
they never support thats sure , I tried many times they always same answer please contact wordpress to solve this issue
@ RLvB
Hi , Thanks for the Promo code & the info you provided here
Some of my website I also hosted in Dreamhost untill now their service is good , I hope they provide us Good service

Hi,
Mr.Gene Do you mean the screen shots etc re all fake. Go to hell and get lost. Hostican is a real cheating company. I have taken a Tera Host plan with them which offers “UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH”.
Till yesterday all the videos were running fine. Now the videos play only for 1 minute and then stops. They have restricted my bandwidth. Is it not cheating????
Majority of popular websites including mine were pulled down for CPU Overload when in fact the cpu logs show some mysql queries running for 1 second???? Is it not cheating???
They have lot of downtime now and their servers are overloaded.
The “FREE DOMAIN” is another instance of cheating. If you need control of your domain, like for example, changing nameservers, they will ask you to close your account. See the e-mail below:
===============
We will able to provide you with EPP key for domain transferring after account cancellation only, because its promotion domain that comes for free along with account.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
Alex Hardin
HostICan Representative
===================
That means your website will be down for days if you are planning to transfer to a new host. Is it not cheating????
So Mr.Gene Steinberg. and your Hostican friend, the sucker Dennis Motova, Go to Hell you suckers…HOSTICAN SUCKS>>>
NEVER, EVER, HOST WITH HOSTICAN

I find it sad that people here have nothing better to do than make up a few tall tales about a responsible company and, even worse, waste their time moaning because they weren’t satisfied with their $10-a-month shared hosting accounts.
No, HostICan covered up nothing. Their policy about resource abuse is clearly displayed and all customers agree to the Terms of Service when they sign up. I’m sorry some of you don’t believe in adhering to the agreements you make.
Peace,
Gene

Hi
Agreed, they suck.
Correcting a URL from above, see http://www.creationrobot.com/2008/01/the-moving-hosts-nightmare-rolls-on-avoid-website-hosts-hostican/
Wish I’d seen your post earlier. I’m having no issues with my new host.
February 2nd, 2008 01:27
Oh, stop with the lies, already, Gene! One month later, and you still haven’t convinced anyone Hostican’s right and everyone else’s wrong. Give it up.
Hostican covered up nothing, you say? Deleting a 380-post thread about this issue…I’d call that a coverup anyday.
February 2nd, 2008 12:12

Great job in keeping a copy of their forum posts which those suckers deleted :). what do you say about that you Sucker @Gene
HOSTICAN CHEATS CUSTOMERS….
Very Funny that it is located at a godown.
February 2nd, 2008 12:24
Hi Guys,
Thanks for providing these information. I was about to join them. My friend was hosted with them. She told that they were good a few months back and she had lot of issues from December, 2007 like CPU overload messages and lot of downtime without response. Seems they have overloaded their servers and face lot of issues currently. And their support it seems is not friendly to customers and blame them instead of resolving issues. Read somewhere that they are under scrutiny by FBI for cheating customers.
My friend has shifted to Hostgator.com. I am also joining her. Thanx once again for the informative posts with screen shots:)

@Gene:

Lol, we made up all of these resource errors because we hate HostICan so much, right? >_>
> and, even worse, waste their time moaning because they

What would you do if you were cheated after paying a company $120?

‘Their policy’? You work for them!
> I’m sorry some of you don’t believe in adhering to the

Nowhere in the agreement is there any mention of the fact that making a database backup is considered resource abuse.

No Problem friend
February 6th, 2008 01:44
Yes, Hostican is a big cheat. They are showing CPU Overload messages in my website for running a 1 second query as shown by cpulogs. Does a 1 second mysql query means CPU Overload???? Something is wrong with Hostican in the way they track server resource usage. The support is pathetic. Lot of people were complaining in their forum and now the messages have disappeared.
Never host with Hostican unless you have a website with no visitors. Else you will have sleepless nights.
February 6th, 2008 18:41
Unbelievable. They’re still at it, but in differently:

http://forum.hostican.com/shared-hosting/738-account-suspended-abuse.html
Another instance of a customer cheating. This site has been suspended after transfer of this website by Hostican from another host and after review by Hostican Staff. Something is wrong with this guys led by Dennis Motova. They are surely going to land in legal trouble very soon. NEVER HOST WITH HOSTICAN.
February 18th, 2008 02:36
Hey guys,
I am also having the issue of CPU Overloads. The funny thing is that they advertise in the CPU Overload page too. Anyway people will understand that Hostican sucks and never host with them..lol..I have planned to shift to Hostgator.com..Hostican Really sucks. They promise one thing and delivers another..bloody suckers…
February 18th, 2008 22:17
I have to agree that HostIcan sucks. Beware of these guys. Go with someone that has been around with a proven track record and places customer support first. Hostican support is non-existent and has turned into a bad joke.
I have a VPS and about 15 shared hosting sites with them. When I started up with them over a year ago things were great, now the honeymoon is over. Customer support is an after thought. Online chat (when available) refers you to submit a trouble ticket since it is usually staffed by un-knowledgeable sales reps. Trouble ticket responses comes back with some vague reply that they consider a solution to your issue and the case is closed without resolving anything.
They are clearly amateurs and do not understand how to scale a web hosting business. All signs point to growing pains, lack of capital investment and lack of knowledgeable support staff. They regularly knock their servers offline when performing updates. I have experienced this with my VPS account and various shared accounts. When I contact them they play dumb.
Most recently they increased their network/server based spam filtering. Now one company that I represent randomly cannot send or receive email and it is causing lost revenue and customers for us. We do not receive notices that email was intercepted inbound or outbound. We find out when our vendors or customers call complaining because we have not responded to their email or they never received our email. Hostican’s response - sorry but we apply rules per web server and cannot help you. Basically you are S.O.L. A reputable host would use a service such as Spamhaus and would be able to provide account level rules and filtering - even on shared hosting. Not hostican.
I have left a number of voice mails and sent multiple emails and none have been addressed directly. Only closed trouble tickets without resolving anything.
Yes, we have experienced CPU overloads as well and the situation is the same. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY! We will be moving all of our accounts off this terrible host.
March 10th, 2008 02:10
I have very bad experiences with Hostican. No Support..They are not delivering what they promised. LOT of CPU error messages. It is heard lot of people have left them for better hosts..It is a sinking ship..
March 10th, 2008 17:53
HostICan shared hosting isnt so bad as it is described here. CPU usage could be a problem, however what do you want on shared plan for $6/month.
Im currently hosted on their VPS and have no issues.
March 10th, 2008 19:08
@ Dietrich
Their Support Really Sucks they never fix any issues as soon as possible, I also got the same probelm from them on begining, then my friends they helped on this issue
@ Naruto
CPU usage its a main problem dear, when we didnt used much resources from them, then why those message Pop up
Some other Host also provide better service for just $ 6,
I think for you $ 6 is not a big amount form me its ,
However you are happy with Hostican then its good.
