This morning FedEx has released its Senseaware, it is nothing but a drop-in sensor. They can provide real time temperature, light exposure, accelerometer data to detect drops and GPS location data for the packages. This works within a few feet distance and they will be used for transport medical packages comprising organs and surgical supplies. Moreover, it lets the doctors track the package via the web and knows exactly when the organs will arrive in order to prepare for surgery.

The Senseaware features several technologies including a GPS receiver, an accelerometer, a digital thermometer, a cellular transmitter and a light sensor. The suggested price of this sensor is $120 for a month.
